In a strange twist of events that transpired at approximately 9am in the morning (KOLD reported) that a 36 year old suspect of three other crimes threatened approaching law enforcement officials with a loaded rifle including discharging the rifle into the air.

According to a post on the Blaze: “Police say Valencia fled authorities after stealing a rifle from a local Walmart at approximately 9 a.m. in the morning, KOLD reported. The 36-year-old, suspected of being involved in three other crimes, threatened officers who approached him with suicide. In one instance, he fired a round from the gun into the air.”

Constitution and 1911With the exception of Vermont, the only state to have ALWAYS been a “constitutional carry” state, the Northeast is not exactly well known for its gun-friendliness. Case in point, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts need I say more? However, Maine of all places may soon follow Kansas to become the 6th “constitutional carry” state in the U.S. joining Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Kansas, Wyoming and of course Vermont in the permitless carry of handguns openly or concealed. Back in the day, all the pro-gun buzz surrounded states passing “Right To Carry” or concealed carry legislation, but the conversation recently has taken a decidedly different turn. Now that all 50 states have some concealed carry laws that allow citizens to carry in public, some obviously better than others, the conversation has shifted from the “right to carry” to the “FREEDOM to carry” also referred to as Constitutional Carry. So, What is Constitutional Carry? Surprisingly most people haven’t got a clue what it is and the name is rather misleading, so let’s take a closer look.
